Cathedral quiet morning programme 2011

This year, the Cathedral quiet morning programme enters its third year of existence. Quiet mornings will be held monthly except in April and December, due to Holy week, Easter and Christmas services. The quiet morning programme for 2011 is included in the Lent brochure and is also available on the cathedral website.

Lenten Study Groups

There are three groups meeting throughout Lent, using the text Lent for Everyone: Matthew. Group Leaders have contacted those who signed up directly to finalise details. For anyone who was unable to join a group this year, the course is based on the daily Lectionary readings for Lent which are taken from the Gospel of Matthew. Lectionaries can be purchased from the Book Shop. You are encouraged to read the passages at home and pray through them.

Cathedral Community Lunch programme

We need volunteers to assist with the Community lunch programme. If you are interested in supporting this important ministry, please phone Margaret Thirlwell (4963 4334) Adrian Price (4929 4919) or Claire Foster (4963 5070). You can help in a variety of ways, donating food, working in the kitchen and/or serving food, welcoming guests. You may commit to helping once or twice a month. The lunches are held fortnightly. We especially need helpers in January when many people are away on holiday. Please collect and complete a leaflet at the end of the service. This form is also available for download from our website. There is also a sign-up sheet at the back of the cathedral. Contact Margaret Thirlwell (4963 4334) for more information.

Christmas Gifts for the Cathedral

This year we are repeating ‘Christmas gifts for the cathedral’. This was very successful in 2009 and significantly reduced cathedral expenditure during 2010. Once again we hope this will be a very practical exercise in stewardship that will raise awareness of the everyday and mundane expenses involved in resourcing the services offered by the cathedral and also empower the congregation to offer tangible support. There is a sign-up sheet at the back of the cathedral. If you would like to make a gift, please read the list and mark the gift you wish to give. If you prefer to give anonymously, then tick the relevant box and speak to or write to the Dean.
